Within just three weeks into the PortXL 2017 program, Sagar Defence and Van Oord signed contract during the RMIF (Rotterdam Mainport Innovation Forum) event on April 18th 2017 .
Van Oord has remotely operating boats and Sagar Defence has been asked to retrofit their systems on these boats to turn them autonomous for maritime survey operations. These boats will also be equipped with state of the art deliberate collusion avoidance systems to save them from any damage to the vessel and to the equipment on board. This will help the Van Oord survey team in easing out the operator and safety workload.
